Here’s how to disable X (Twitter) from using your data to train its Grok AI

X,formerly Twitter, has automatically activated a setting that allows the company to use users’posts to train its Grok AI,including interactions and inputs with the AI.This setting is enabled by default, but users can opt out and delete their conversation history with the AI.

Here’s how you can switch off X’s data sharing settings:

  1.Open X on your desktop.

  2.Go to the Settings page.

  3.Select“Privacy and safety.”

  4.Click on“Grok.”

5.Uncheck the box to disable the setting.

After disabling the setting, you can also delete your conversation history with Grok by selecting the“Delete conversation history”button.

Elon Musk recently claimed that xAI has begun training its Grok model using”the most powerful AI training cluster in the world,”aiming to make it the most powerful AI by December 2024.This new approach leverages user-generated content,in addition to the advanced training infrastructure.

X is not unique in using user data for AI training.Meta had previously planned to use public content from Facebook and Instagram for similar purposes but paused its plans due to regulatory pressure in the EU and U.K.
